The population was 4, 538 at the 2010 census. Phoenix is a part of the Medford Metropolitan Statistical Area, in the Rogue Valley, and is 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Medford on Interstate 5. History [ edit] The Phoenix area was settled in about 1850 by brothers Hiram and Samuel Colver. Samuel Colver laid out the town in 1854. Early residents included Milton Lindley, who operated a sawmill that provided timbers in 1855 for a blockhouse as well as a flouring mill owned by Sylvester M. Wait. For a time, the settlement was known locally as Gasburg after a talkative employee in the kitchen serving the mill hands. Wait, who was an agent for the Phoenix Insurance Company of Hartford, Connecticut, assigned the official name, Phoenix, to the community and, in 1857, to its post office. Waitsburg, Washington, was later named after Wait. [6] Geography [ edit] According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1. 44 square miles (3. 73 km 2), all of it land. [7] The city is south of Medford and north of Talent and Ashland along Interstate 5 and Oregon Route 99. This is toward the southern end of the Rogue River Valley, near the Siskiyou Mountains and the border with California. [8] Coleman Creek, a tributary of Bear Creek, joins the larger stream at Phoenix. [8] The Bear Creek Greenway, a biking and hiking trail connecting Ashland, Talent, Medford, and Central Point along Bear Creek, also passes through Phoenix. [9] Climate [ edit] This region experiences hot and dry summers, and cool and wet winters. According to the Köppen climate classification system, Phoenix has a hot-summer Mediterranean climate, abbreviated Csa on climate maps. [10] Phoenix's record-high temperature is 113 °F (45. 0 °C) on August 2, 2017, and the record-low temperature is −8 °F (−22. 2 °C) on December 9, 1972. The title refers to a sacred Jewish ritual where the names of the Holocaust victims are recited in a musical style. It's a process that (sadly) covers a few days. In this film, it takes on a personal, as well as historical, significance. British cultural affairs expert Norman Lebrecht wrote the 2001 novel on which writer-director Francois Girard (THE RED VIOLIN, 1998, plus plays, operas and 2 Cirque de Soleil shows) and co-writer Jeffrey Caine based the film.
We open in 1951 London just minutes before the scheduled performance of young violin virtuoso Dovidl "David" Rapoport. He is to play Bruch and Bach in a concert sponsored by his "adoptive" father figure Gilbert Simmonds, who has sunk his entire life savings into producing the concert. Despite the assurances of Simmonds' son Martin, who has become like a brother to David, the featured performer is a no-show. leading Martin to search for him over the next 35 years.
The film covers the story from the time Dovidl's Polish-Jewish father (played by Jakub Kotynski) agrees to his leave 9 year old, a violin prodigy, with the non-Jewish Simmonds in an attempt to protect the boy from the German invasion of Poland in the late 1930's. As Dovidl and Martin grow together, their bond become stronger. Martin is present when Dovidl renounces Judaism, even as becomes more proficient with his instrument and more saddened by the Holocaust that he avoided in his home country.
Both boys are played at three different ages by three different actors. Dovidl is played by Luke Doyle at ages 9-13, Jonah Hauer-King at ages 17-23, and by Clive Owen in middle age. Martin is played by Misha Handley at ages 9-13, Gerran Howell at ages 17-23, and by Tim Roth in later life. The actors do a good job of capturing Martin's early irritation at Dovidl's arrogance, the shock of the no-show betrayal, and the later in life man who changed everything when he found out about his family, as well as the music teacher so desperate to find his long lost friend/brother.
The film bounces between the three timelines so that we have a full picture of the impact they have had on each other's lives, and how Dovidl's disappearing act was quite devastating. Much of the film centers on Martin tracking down leads and talking to folks for some idea of the path taken by Dovidl. Mr. Roth is especially effective (and surprisingly understated) in his performance as a man haunted by the unexplained actions of a loved one. His wife, played by Catherine McCormick, is simultaneously understanding, patient, and emotionally affected.
Stanley Townsend plays Martin's father. He cares for Dovidl as if her were a son, and provides what's necessary for the prodigy to develop and be groomed for performance. Three-time Oscar winner Howard Shore delivers a score that follows the good times and bad, not an easy task for a family drama within the shadow of the Holocaust. One specific sequence stands out, and it is filmed on the hallowed grounds of Treblinka - now a memorial, where the extermination camp once stood.
There are many facets to the story, and most involve heavy emotions. We see children bearing more than they should. Parents protecting their children in times of crisis. The difference between religion and ethnicity is discussed. Broken trust proves especially damaging. Dovidl's disappearing act could be compared to that of JD Salinger, in that he seemingly disappeared for years. And maybe most of all, the idea of survivor's guilt is a theme, as Dovidl explains, You don't have to be guilty to feel guilty." The film may have some pacing issues, but it affords such a wealth of conversation topics, that any flaws are easily forgiven.

"Riverdance 25th Anniversary Tour" performs at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago. (Jack Hartin photo) The 25th anniversary production of “Riverdance” begins with one of those slick highlight reels you often see at concerts by artists whove had long careers. Theres “Riverdance” with Liza! Look at David Letterman! Isnt that Pierce Brosnan before the grey hair? Of course, “Riverdance” is not a person but a cultural product — arguably, the Republic of Irelands most influential international export in the realm of entertainment and, for the record, a phenomenon that was very much ignited here in Chicagoland, during a series of performances at the Rosemont Theatre that enjoyed a euphoric reception I wont soon forget. The brand here is not specific performers, at least not since the days of Michael Flatley, but the art of Irish step dancing, packaged with narrative and spectacle so as to attract an audience that rarely, if ever, goes to see dance. The form, of course, involves precision and uniformity. Upper bodies remain rigid, smiles remain fixed, creativity must blend with coordination. On that video, you see “Riverdance” performers in a variety of global settings, ambassadors for a style of dance inextricable from the Irish and their diaspora, young women conquering the world together. That paragraph is probably enough to tell you that I am partial to “Riverdance, ” which Ive come back to see every few years. It hasnt changed much at all. I mean, the dancers have changed, obviously, given that some in this cast werent born when “Riverdance” was first in Rosemont, and the video is higher def, but the basic, old-school, variety-show format is a constant, as is the original Bill Whelan score and the nostalgic backdrop of that beautiful nation. There is a lead pair of Irish dancers, a huge company behind them, mostly costumed in souped-up traditionalism and then, by way of variety, a celebration of separated but related forms, such as two African-American tappers and, in this staging, a small separate company performing dance you associate with Eastern European. “Riverdance, ” has always been about participatory dance forms, and a good chunk of its audience is there to marvel not so much at innovation but expertise. "Riverdance 25th Anniversary Tour" at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago. (Jack Hartin photo) Expertise is what you get. “Riverdance” can pick and choose its performers, and it has resisted any urge to cut back on a full company, or on the live music. And I bet some bean counters have tried. So, there you go at the Cadillac Palace Theatre: The “Riverdance” you remember, superbly and joyously performed. I found myself musing at how this Irish form communicates in performance; there is something, I think, about the stillness of half the body that seems to create an optical illusion of emotional communication. Dancers cant be subsumed in whole-body choreography. They are always there. Smiling for you. The biggest difference from the money-spinning peak years is the deeper commitment to ensemble. The shows spirit feels more egalitarian these days, which only expands the warm, populist glow. Chris Jones is a Tribune critic. Review: “Riverdance 25th Anniversary Tour” (3 stars) Where: Cadillac Palace Theatre, 151 W. Randolph St. Tickets: 32-90 at 800-775-2000 and Most Read.

Attended the world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday. Honestly one of top 10 best films I've ever seen. Perfect mix of pathos (not sure I've ever cried more in a film 😳) laugh out loud humour and great music. Military Wives is as formulaic as movies go, regardless the film is surprisingly good and it uses the formula really well. However it never aspires to be anything else preventing it from becoming a classic amongst the genre.
I haven't been familiar with the true story but from the start, you just know where it is all gonna go. It still works well but nothing is a surprise because of that. It still has some great moments and a fair amount of heart
It is seriously enjoyable and it is a likeable movie with a great cast. Kristen Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan are great here.
I'm sure there are many people who will like this film. I just can't see that much greatness in it. It's formulaic and does it's best to be a lovely and charming film but it does it in such a manipulative way, and I hate it when films do that. It is still worth watching though.

Alaine no ordinary love free download. 4 / 5 stars 4 out of 5 stars. There are strong, sensitive performances in a melancholic film about a couple dealing with the fallout from a cancer diagnosis ‘Ordinary Love is a film with a cloud-cover of ordinariness. Photograph: TIFF L isa Barros DSa and Glenn Leyburn are the two film-makers who in 2013 directed Good Vibrations, a tremendous film about the 70s Belfast punk scene. Now they have changed the mood for this desperately poignant study of a retired middle-aged couple, Joan and Tom, who have, over the years, come to terms with the deep sadness in their hearts following the death of their daughter. Now their fragile relationship is further tested when Joan is diagnosed with breast cancer. Is it too much to bear? Or has their existing grief somehow partly numbed, or inoculated them against the more commonplace pain of getting cancer in your 60s? The movie is written by Owen McCafferty and acted with impeccable intelligence and sensitivity by Lesley Manville and Liam Neeson. And although there are some slightly stereotypical weepie moments, the film has a strong sense of emotional purpose and Manville and Neeson – perhaps especially Manville – bring conviction and force. It is, perhaps, something we have all seen before in the movies when a character goes to talk to the gravestone of a departed loved one. But this film does something different with the trope when the couple are in the car and Tom announces that he is going to the cemetery. Joan, with deadly seriousness, tells him not to mention her cancer: “I dont want her to know. ” Ordinary Love is a film with a cloud-cover of ordinariness. Cinematographer Piers McGrail gives it a stark, flat light: subdued in the couples kitchen and dining room, and also on the seafront where they go for daily, healthy walks, Tom genially obsessing over his Fitbit and the number of steps he has taken – but a stronger and more clinical light in the hospital. Over the years, the couple have got comfortable with a kind of endless, soft-edged banter; its a language they have developed for amiable co-existence, and of course it crumbles in the face of Joans awful news, replaced with anger, recrimination and fear. There is a horrible, and all too real, choreography of agony when Tom and Joan are placidly seated in the hospital waiting area and Tom announces he needs to go to the lavatory; Joan testily tells him not to be long, because her name could be called at any moment – and course it is, the moment Tom has gone. The uneasy, uncomfortable wait for Tom to return from the loo so they can all troop in to see the doctor is an ordeal of banal embarrassment. But there is a kind of redemption when the couple unexpectedly see someone they know – and dislike – in the waiting room. There are, arguably, scenes in this film which are less than subtle – and there were times when I wanted something more indirect. But Manville and Neeson have a real empathy and intimacy on screen. Perhaps it is partly Manvilles presence, which reminded me a little of Mike Leigh, in films like Another Year. A sweet, sad film. Ordinary Love is showing at the Toronto film festival with a release date yet to be announced.

A Melody Grace novel is something akin to sitting in front of a blazing fireplace snuggled in a blanket with a cup of hot cocoa. It makes you feel warm and cozy inside and out. The author has a way of creating her characters with flaws- deep, cutting flaws- that are the reasons why past relationships have never worked out. And in each book, the characters overcome their flaws in order to establish a healthy relationship with the person they're meant for. It may be formulaic, but I really enjoy the characters growing and changing to become, not just better people, but their most authentic... book 6 in this series, every book different and could be read as a stand alone but if you read from the start you will be familiar with the wonderful characters that are throughout the books. Eliza had just been fired from her job at the paper and blames the Prescott family for it so imagine her surprise when on her way to Sweetbriar cove to spend time with her family she stopped to help someone that had broken down to find out he was Cal Prescott, there was an instant attraction but also anger... Eliza visits Sweetbriar Cove to see her mom, sister, and friends, in order to relax for a bit. It seems that Cal had the same thought in mind though. Cal and Eliza start dating even though they seem like polar opposites. There are some committment issues but of course, Eliza and Cal are going to figure it out eventually. I really enjoyed reading this book. This book was the beautiful, sappy, and... I absolutely adore Ms. Grace and her Sweetbriar cove series. I have been reading this series from Book one and it continues to draw me in. No Ordinary Love did that as well. Eliza and Cal meet under a unique doesnt know who he is until she does a little “snooping”, when she discovers exactly who he is, the mischief begins. No Ordinary Love was a great love story. You wont be disappointed! Welcome back to Sweetbriar Cove! I love this series! And I would love to live in a place like this! This one is Eliza and Cal's story. Two people who couldn't be more opposite. But opposites attract, right? Love the characters. Eliza is feisty and not afraid to speak her mind and Cal is so sweet and swoony! This has a very good storyline and you get to catch up with previous characters from earlier books. Looking forward to the next book in this series! I really enjoyed reading about Cal and Eliza. Their story was a great one, it was very well written with some sassy come backs and a lot of friction until they were able to move past and get to the steamy parts. i loved that he was masculine enough to stay in the Pink house and they were able to finally pave the way to date and try to be happy. This was defiantly a great HEA with a perfect ending for both of them career wise. I recieved a free copy and Im volunteerily leaving my review. Cal is not your typical stuffy suit. He and Liza are both trying to find their way in the world, alone and with one another. I love their first meeting on the road. It set the stage for this fun and interesting ride. Cal is the best. Hes a strong, powerful CEO but can be so sweet and get so vulnerable with Eliza. Eliza is a strong minded newspaper reporter with a chip on her shoulder for the snooty uptight crowd. (btw love the name, cute) These two butt heads but falls into each other so sweetly. Love their story. LOVED IT Another great Sweetbriar Cove story. Eliza & Cal were awesome together. Loved the outspoken Eliza. Finally finding their paths was worth the wait. Keep them coming. The sea wants to kiss the golden shore The sunlight warms your skin All the beauty that's been lost before Wants to find us again I can't fight you anymore It's you I'm fighting for The sea throws rock together But time leaves us polished stones We can't fall any further If we can't feel ordinary love We cannot reach any higher If we can't deal with ordinary love Birds fly high in the summer sky And rest on the breeze The same wind will take care of you and I will build our house in the trees Your heart is on my sleeve Did you put there with a magic marker For years I would believe That the world couldn't wash it away 'Cause we can't fall any further If we can't deal with ordinary love Are we tough enough For ordinary love We can't fall any further We can't fall any further If we can't deal with ordinary love.

Photo: Bleecker Street Can good performances save mediocre material? Conventional wisdom says that sheer charisma can help compensate for a films otherwise lackluster elements. After all, movie stars partially exist to be gazed at, which will inevitably distract from, say, a pedestrian screenplay or middling direction. But its too great a burden to put on any actor, expecting them to salvage a whole project on their lonesome. Case in point: Despite their best efforts, Liam Neeson and Lesley Manville cant rescue Ordinary Love, a bland drama about a late-middle-aged couple grappling with a cancer diagnosis. The blandness can be attributed to Owen McCaffertys stick-to-the-facts script. The film diligently follows every step of a breast cancer diagnosis, from when Joan (Manville) casually discovers a lump in her breast to her initial biopsy and, eventually, to her chemotherapy and multiple operations. There isnt a moment in Ordinary Love that feels unrealistic or outside of someones lived experience. Each of Joans hospital visits are appropriately impersonal and sterile, broken up by brief moments of connection between her and other cancer patients undergoing the same treatment. Her harrowing post-chemo nausea and pain will likely be familiar to anyone who has either gone through or witnessed such trauma. Ditto the nerve-wracking moments spent waiting in doctors offices or idling in cars on the way to treatment, desperately trying to stave off anxiety. McCaffertys goal is to take a viewer through every stage of an ordeal that affects millions of people worldwide, and he broadly succeeds. Unfortunately, its that same commitment to realism that makes Ordinary Love such a dull viewing experience. The film moves from one moment to the next propelled only by a simulacrum of lifes mundane routine instead of dramatic tension. It feels abstractly insensitive to suggest that a depiction of cancer treatment should be more exciting, but Ordinary Love demonstrates that simply hewing to the real-life details isnt enough to generate drama. McCaffertys playwrighting background leans heavily on dialogue, which inevitably means that complex internal emotions are bluntly communicated through simple speech, e. g. Joan screaming, “We are not going through this together! ” at her husband, Tom (Neeson) underscoring the obvious. Worse, directors Lisa Barros DSa and Glenn Leyburn bring little visual acumen to Ordinary Love, relying too heavily on centered compositions and repetitive pillow shots to break up stagey scenes of shared vulnerability. All of these formal shortcomings cant be absorbed by Neeson and Manville, whose lived-in chemistry remains the only notable element of Ordinary Love. Their characters comfortable domesticity and longterm romance provides the film with a gentle, sympathetic foundation. They persuasively capture the behavior of two people whove been together for decades—good-humored teasing, constant bickering, the intimations of a tragedy theyve previously endured. Its difficult not to be moved while watching Tom sweetly complement Joan after he shaves her head (“I never liked your hair anyway, ” he says) or Joan asking Tom if hell miss her breasts once she undergoes a double mastectomy. Neeson and Manville expertly convey their characters public and private fears, which lends Ordinary Love some real emotional weight. Its just a shame that extraordinary talents cant redeem an ordinary film.

U2 ordinary love download free. Announcing modest ambitions with its title, “Ordinary Love” tackles melodramatic subject matter with uncommon, quiet elegance. The story of a husband and wife dealing with a cancer scare, directors Lisa Barros DSa and Glenn Leyburns film offers a beautifully understated look at intimacy and devotion in the face of potentially devastating loss, while stars Leslie Manville and Liam Neeson tap effortlessly into the relatable routines, rhythms and nuances of a lived-in, long term relationship. Neeson and Manville play Tom and Joan, a married couple whose world is turned upside down when she discovers a lump in her breast that turns out to be cancerous. The comforting ease of their daily lives is thrown into disarray after doctors prescribe a rigorous battery of treatments for Joan, including surgery and chemotherapy, testing their individual fortitude even as it deepens minor rifts in their relationship. Joan finds solace in a fellow cancer patient, Peter (David Wilmot, “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”) who has connections to their past, while Tom attempts to preserve and maintain the life and lifestyle to which theyve grown accustomed. As Joans treatment disrupts their daily rituals, she and Tom seek common ground even while dealing with the very real risks they face. But over the course of a year, they inspire new hope, patience and resilience in their relationship, and rekindle a sense of connection to and with the outside world theyd foregone in favor of focusing on each other. Watch Video: Liam Neeson and Lesley Manville Fight Breast Cancer in 'Ordinary Love' Trailer Although it comes at the expense of more conventional dramatic ups and downs, “Ordinary Love” is a film that looks very intensely, and delicately, at the tiny, wonderful moments of familiarity between two people that come after years and years together. Toms default style of engagement is a dry humor leavened with tenderness; Joans wry, fleeting exasperation conceals irrepressible warmth. They understand and accept the comfort of this dynamic as a reflection not quite of a status quo but healthy “ordinary” interaction that reassures them everythings alright. The establishment of this dynamic sets up the great arc of the film as their sense of continuity and regularity is disrupted, and the sentiments that lie beneath those reflexive behaviors become harder to conceal. The edges around Toms jokes become more embittered, the frustration of a husband who is terrified about the possibility of losing his wife, and cant do anything to make her feel better. Joans jokey annoyance turns real when she succumbs to her own sense of powerlessness, and seeks from Tom serene comfort rather than determined problem-solving. Cancer is the element that throws everything they do and know out of sync, and finding an accord between the long-established past and an uncertain future is the only way for their relationship, much less for them, to survive. Also Read: Liam Neeson's Ugly Admission and What We Can Learn From It (Podcast) Owen McCaffertys script explores this challenge with a careful, sensitive patience that recognizes how the fear of mortality becomes a mirror for reflection in every act, often unexpectedly. Where other films might focus on dialogue — the exchanges between Tom and Joan, with doctors, and later between Joan and Peter — DSa and Leyburn coax out of each scene a keen observation about what triggers deep feelings, be they fear, sadness or gratitude. These are more than just a few extra seconds on screen after a conversation is finished; theyre acknowledgments that the moments affecting us are often prompted by random, disconnected events. Moreover, the film observes how we can feel most alone, even in a room with those closest to us, when were dealing with life-changing challenges or concerns. Watch Video: Shannen Doherty Says Her Breast Cancer Has Returned: I'm Stage 4' As Joan and Tom, Manville and Neeson showcase the experience of this potential loss with an uneasy, desperately believable grace, wrestling with their characters anxieties even as they remind us in every action this is an experience shared between people who know each other intimately. Meanwhile as Joans confidante and sounding board Peter, Wilmot offers both a reassuring humanity and a catalyst for Joan and Tom to reach new epiphanies — including some they themselves dont recognize — as they battle against ultimate loss. With a title thats deliberately unshowy, DSa and Leyburns film runs the risk of phony nobility in its treatment of sensitive subject matter, an exercise in social realism that evokes or condenses Mike Leigh-style drama to a collection of tearjerking vignettes. But ultimately, “Ordinary Love” is a celebration not just of this functional, delightfully average relationship, but also of life itself, risking and wrestling with loss not in spite of the fact its shared with others, but precisely because of that fact. 20 of Denzel Washington and Liam Neeson's Biggest Box Office Hits (Photos) Action movies have been big earners for both of the veteran stars "The Pelican Brief" 1993. The oldest film on this list, Washington teamed up with a red hot Julia Roberts to bring in 101 million dollars in the U. S. and 195 million worldwide.

Lesley Manville and Liam Neeson are note-perfect as an everyday couple coping with cancer in this singular drama with universal appeal 5 / 5 stars 5 out of 5 stars. ‘Simply flawless: Lesley Manville and Liam Neeson in Ordinary Love. Photograph: Universal T heres nothing ordinary about this deeply moving, frequently funny and piercingly insightful drama from Belfast playwright Owen McCafferty, making his screenwriting feature debut. On the surface its a tale of a middle-aged couple facing up to a diagnosis of breast cancer, and a year of medical intervention. Yet beyond this immediate diagnosis is something far more rich and compelling – a story of everyday love between two people living in the shadow of grief, facing an uncertain future, both together and apart. Directed with wit, subtlety and great emotional honesty by Lisa Barros DSa and Glenn Leyburn (the co-directors of 2012s brilliantly life-affirming Good Vibrations) its a singular story with universal appeal – striking a very personal chord with some viewers while finding common ground with the widest possible audience. Ive seen it three times so far, and found it more joyous, heart-breaking and ultimately uplifting with each subsequent viewing. Lesley Manville and Liam Neeson are note-perfect as Joan and Tom, a couple living in Northern Ireland for whom gentle bickering has become a sign of affection – a way of saying “I love you” without having to use those often awkward words. At Joans apparent insistence, the pair have taken up walking, striding along a waterside prom to a designated tree and back – an attempt to stave off the inevitable aches and pains of ageing. “How does the Fitbit know youre walking? ” Tom asks his ever-so-slightly exasperated wife, before insisting that the exercise “ allows me to have a beer” despite her health-conscious protestations to the contrary. When Joan feels a lump in her breast, her husband tries to reassure her that its “nothing”, even after initial investigations raise cause for concern. “Well do whatever has to be done, the two of us, ” says Tom, asserting that “there isnt a moment I wont be with you”. Yet that togetherness will be sorely tested by a process that necessarily separates patients from their loved ones, frequently leaving Tom stewing in impersonal waiting rooms while Joan undergoes examination and surgery. “Im glad our Debbie isnt here to go through this, ” says Joan, referring to the lost daughter whose presence still feels real, highlighting divisions between the couples different ways of dealing (or not dealing) with the current crisis. Anyone with experience of a similar situation will recognise the pinpoint accuracy with which Ordinary Love depicts Joans journey through cancer care, right down to such tiny details as the weirdly jarring snapping sound of the mechanised syringe used to take a biopsy. Equally on the money is the depiction of the petty distractions that can accompany life-changing hospital visits – the moment of panic Joan feels when shes called for her test results just as Tom has disappeared off to the toilet; a tense exchange conducted sotto voce while queuing to pay for the car parking. Its that evocation of the intangible interface between the mundane and the monumental that lends Ordinary Love such universal appeal – the sense of down-to-earth characters quietly wrestling with the cosmic mysteries of life and death, love and grief, with a mixture of sorrow and laughter. Whether its a tragicomic graveside musing about the metaphysics of the afterlife, or an absurdist argument about three being closer to five than one on a sliding scale of probability (apparently drawn verbatim from an exchange between McCafferty and his wife Peggy) Ordinary Love brilliantly captures that strange sense of everything and nothing happening simultaneously – to everyone. Watch a trailer for Ordinary Love. Crucially, although the narrative is bookended with images of Tom and Joan together, the emotional separation they experience during Joans treatment is accompanied by an unexpected bonding with others who are going through the same thing – the “Normal People” of the scripts original title. One of Debbies old teachers, formerly dismissed as “arrogant”, becomes a confidante, a fellow patient with whom Joan can laugh about the indignities of chemo-induced hair loss. Meanwhile Tom (who is “always Tom”) makes a waiting-room connection that proves quietly groundbreaking, causing a subtle change that cuts to the heart of the films wider purpose. With cinematographer Piers McGrail and editor Nick Emerson, Leyburn and Barros DSa create a cinematic space that combines the intimate domestic stillness of Michael Hanekes Amour with an almost Kubrickian sense of alienating architecture during the accelerating hospital scenes. A beautiful ambient score by David Holmes and Brian Irvine proves as quietly powerful and moving as the film itself, like a randomly generated cellular lullaby. As for the performances, they are simply flawless, with particular plaudits to Manville, for whom awards are surely due. A wordless closeup of her face as Joan undergoes breast imaging will stay with me forever – in her eyes, we see fear, anxiety and a hint of loneliness, mixed with a strange cocktail of acceptance and defiance, and something that still manages to look like love.

The best thing that ever happened a boy. Sade no ordinary love download free. This is almost a fly-on-the-wall style telling of how an ordinary couple discover and come to terms with one of them having cancer. It is told in an intimate but not sentimental way, and is really quite touching. Owen McCafferty's script uses humour, sex, pathos, occasional anger, and a relationship with another couple in a similar (though more terminal) situation to help convey the deep senses of frustration, helplessness and hope as they go through the testing and treatment procedures. Liam Neeson plays his part well; though the script doesn't give him too much to work with. Lesley Manville is superb, though - really very convincing; she elicits sympathy by the bucketful. It doesn't pull it's punches so be prepared for a tough watch at times.

Grande dentro d los grande U2. Damn good cover.
